I am not sure I agree with this. Obama did a great job separating himself from the extremist liberal POV and coming across as reasonable, practical, with some vision. It's why I went with him. I don't believe that the center was sending a message that they wanted a fullscale liberal agenda, but that they wanted change from the Bush years-- I;m not sure they knew exactly WHAT they wanted, they just wanted OUT.

I can feel my moderate feet digging in when I read about emphasis on increasing the already massive government programs. For instance, I am not sure what it means to "increase food stamps".. The program is based on a formula that takes into account income, resources, and expenses. If they simply mean they are going to fund the increasing numbers who will be eligible during this downturn, why does that go into a "stimulus" package? Or does anything that is going to require additional funding-- such as extended unemployment benefits or more people on welfare-- have to be included?

The Dems should have trod more cautiously as they use their capital.
