Reagan, Thatcher and Gorbachev can no more be separated for remaking the world than you can separate FDR, Churchill, and Stalin in WW2. If Breznev was in charge what reagan did could have led to nuclear war, thus reagan would not have done it.
So who are the big three in the next cycle? Obama, Sarkozy and Putin?? I dont mind ruskys didnt object to us getting kicked out of the stans. I think it presages an alliance of USA,Europa and old USSR against terror as EQUAL partners, perhaps taking some of the burder off of us.
Iran needs to be dealt with peacefully--easier said than done, but easier if we are allied with Ruskys...
