In another 6-8 years, that will be up to $1k/month, and likely rising faster than inflation.

But maybe not? If house prices continue to fall, taxes will have to follow - maybe not as fast, but won't they have to come down. Seattle is lagging behind much of the US, maybe they catch up and drop accordingly?
