You state it very well and while I agree with most of the facts as portrayed, I still disagree with the conclusions.

The Democratic lawmakers who crafted this bill let all kind of non stimulus stuff in there (family planning, waiving the means test for Medicaid to have your health insurance paid for 2 years if you lose your job) that would still be there if it weren't for the opposition (think the Medicaid thing is still there, but am not sure.)

Pork is pork and the Democrats shouldn't be throwing it in there on the basis of a crisis argument.

Had some very basic questions been asked about the rationale for invading Iraq we may not presently be there, in any event, there should have been a substantive debate about it.
