Interesting story there apparently.. It seems that the big money folks, lacking any profits against which to apply those tax credits, stepped out of the wind turbine markets. That's why DOE is looking to converting them to outright grants.

If we go nuclear, I think we need to follow the Chinese lead and look to Pebble Bed Reactors.. They are modular, and inherently safe since they can't "melt down". But we probably need to also break down and reprocess nuclear fuel so we don't have all the waste.

The additional benefit of PBR nukes is that they can be used for Sulfur-Iodine process hydrogen production which requires no electricity:
