Thanks for the technical info. I don't do that sort of analysis,
could you describe the "stochastics" formula? I'm a mathematician
applying time series analysis techniques to all sorts of things
(communications systems, underwater acoustics, electroencephalograms)
but NOT to financial data.

I don't know what you mean by "trusting" an analyst. If you
mean their buy/sell recommendations, then recognize that these
are mere opinions (strongly colored by the usual human frailties
like greed, lust, sloth, gluttony, etc)... I only look at them
to the extent that I'm aware that others are influenced by them.
If you mean the factual data they present in their reports, it
is my feeling that this information is generally quite accurate
and often quite useful; I very much doubt that they intentionally
misrepresent anything - moreover, its usually possible to verify
the information from an independent source... and one *should*
seek independent verification rather than accept anything an
analyst says at face value. That said, I love it when I can get
a fresh well-researched report on a company by a professional
securities analyst as it can save me alot of leg-work and might
point out things I could easily miss in my own research.
