"your dad's stories whether true or exaggerations are not the entire story re: korea." The point is/was that during the war, our GIs weren't wildly popular with many South Koreans. Which is when he did his tour of duty. It didn't help that later we supported a succession of corrupt regimes. SK's leadership has gotten better over the years, but it started from a pretty low point.
