The SS Trust fund was never my pension, nor was it yours.

In theory, it's always made sense for the gov't to "borrow" from the trust fund since that was cheapest, but the eventual requirement to repay out of income tax receipts was a permanent lie. So yes, the SS payouts will likely be reduced to 70% for somebody my age, as compared to what they are saying (according to studies I've read).
