<<octavian,

is it your position that bullish on common stocks is the way i ought to be right now?>>

--No. That is not my position. My position is, I have no idea if you should be bullish, bearish, or neutral.

<<how has that worked out for you in the last five months? ;->>

--I have not been bullish the last five months. In fact, I am seldom if ever bullish. I have no illusions that I can foresee the future; therefore I am always in doubt. This saves me a lot of money, as I don't get caught up in internet bubbles or housing bubbles.

<< in fact, i bought some merck just last week. i hope to get a $3 up move and then i'll sell some calls. i ought to be able to turn it into a 10% annual return given the ~5% dividend yield.>>

--I have owned merck twice. Lost money both times. -:)

<<how much up or down would a person be who started listening to brinker in 2005 and who followed his advice from that point on? OK, let's go with july 1st, 2005 as a specific starting point. also assume the guy had no money in the market and only started investing b/c he started listening to brinker.>>

--I have no idea, except I know he would be down.

Why didn't you answer the questions in my last post?
