the rockets from Gaza are rendered neutralized.
Not really. Only partially neutralized.
They may, and probably would, try something else.
They will, and have, anyway, but the fact that people from Gaza (and also to a great extent the West Bank) are generally shut out, has greatly reduced the effectiveness of suicide bombers.
Simple, bargain basement "cruse missiles" made from remote control aircraft (from toy types, to serious hobby/enthusiast mini RC aircraft, all the way up to the simplest and cheapest of relatively full scale drones) might be another tactic, They can be shot down, even by small arms, but they fly low, and may be over or near targets (with any Israeli person or valuable property counting as a target) and so still cause damage when they are shot.
But nothing prevents Hamas from using rockets, and those "cruse missiles", and anything else they can think of.
and even if they didn't there would be no damage to targets and justification for counter strikes on Gaza would require quite a stretch.
A failed attack can still be justification for a counter-strike, and "no-damage" is unlikely.
Actually the past attacks that have already occurred would still be justification for a counter-stike, if there is good reason to believe the counter-stike will be effective. |
