I don't have any problem with the overall policy of California on this score, in so far as I know it. One of the issues that makes it a bit harder to discuss welfare, unemployment benefits, and medicaid is the mix of state and federal obligations, some of which are unfunded from the federal level. I've never taken the time to sort them out simply because I don't have a problem with the overall program.

In my view, problems like the octupulets births should be dealt with on a case by case basis rather than a general policy level. Much too easy to get to the point of the state deciding whether folk can have children or not. Not a place I suspect you would want to go.
