Transfer payments during periods of unemployment, unless saved, create jobs. This is where personal ideology and bias have totally corrupted the debate about "stimulus" - anything the poster likes to see money spent on is stimulus, and anything they dislike is pork, welfare, transfer payments, etc. Like the money being circulated around the economy knows the difference, LOL. It's all just a continuation of politics by other means, as Alistair's post noted.
