Mt. of Olives looking towards the Church of Mary Magdalene...

"And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south." Zec 14:4

Jesus Christ spent much time at Mount Olivet, or the Mount of Olives, during His earthly life. It may have been one of His favorite places. Mount of Olives is 2 miles long and is a flattened ridge series located just a few hundred yards east of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It rises over 200 feet above the Kidron Valley. Many events happened here. King David went over the Mount of Olives to escape from Absalom's rebellion. Ezekiel had his vision of The Lord and the flying “cherubim”. The people gathered olive branches there for the first Feast of Tabernacles after their return from The Babylonian Exile. Jesus appeared to the disciples on the Mount of Olives after His Resurrection, and He ascended into heaven from there.
