XO Communications Enlisted by Infobahn Outfitters, Inc. to Supply High Speed IP Transit Service in Less Than One Week

Response to Urgent Holiday Request Enabled Infobahn Outfitters to Provide Increased IP Capacity Within Guaranteed Timeline

Wednesday February 11, 2009, 8:30 am EST

HERNDON, VA--(MARKET WIRE)--Feb 11, 2009 -- XO Communications (OTC BB:XOHO.OB - News) today announced that it is providing high-speed, low-latency Gigabit Ethernet IP transit service to Infobahn Outfitters, Inc., a full-service Internet provider delivering network access and IP services to eight western Illinois-based telephone companies. XO was selected based upon the company's proven ability to rapidly implement service without sacrificing quality or performance -- a critical need identified by Infobahn Outfitters at a challenging time.

"We received word just before the holidays that our current provider couldn't meet our end-of-year timeline for increasing IP capacity, and that's when we turned to XO for help," said Jeff Calhoun, Infobahn Outfitters CEO. "I was astounded by the turnaround. I knew XO was good, but this was even more amazing considering hectic holiday schedules."

Following an e-mail request from Infobahn Outfitters on Christmas Eve, XO worked quickly to put together an agreement and sales order by the morning of December 30. The order was immediately dispatched to service provisioning, which installed the high-speed, increased-capacity service by mid-afternoon on December 31.

"XO and its talented, committed employees understand that our customers' needs for Internet and communications access don't end when weekends or holidays begin," said Don MacNeil, vice president of XO Carrier Services Sales Operations. "Our company prides itself on offering unparalleled, unwavering customer service, and we appreciate any opportunity to demonstrate it -- this time by helping a new customer improve and expand upon its network offerings."

Through XO's agreement with Infobahn Outfitters, customers in urban and rural areas of western Illinois will have access to a higher-quality, cost-efficient Internet experience unencumbered by bandwidth capacity limitations. As the demand for such service grows and efforts to reach rural America strengthen, XO is well positioned to assist carriers requiring the flexibility and scalability necessary to quickly meet their IP transit needs. The company recently announced a major upgrade of its nationwide IP network that triples its network capacity, setting the stage for XO to provide the next generation of IP services to its customers like Infobahn Outfitters.

Next-Generation IP Network

XO's High Speed IP Transit service provides cable companies, online content providers, enterprises, and domestic and international telecommunications companies with fast, reliable Internet backbone access without the cost of building and managing a Tier 1 network. Along with multiple bandwidth options and robust peering arrangements, XO High Speed IP Transit service provides: Fast Ethernet, Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet Service options; Full port or burstable billing options; Service Level Agreements; and Direct connectivity to high-valued content and access destinations on the Internet.
