It took societal effort to tamp down that particular act of vandalism. It is still talked about in classrooms every year to remind kids not to do it.

Perhaps we can suffer your 'slight infringement' here also for the good of society.

Doubling the cost of medical care is a societal good? I am not seeing it.

Puitting petty bureacrats in charge of life and death decisions is a societal good? I am not seeing it.

Reducing the availability of medical care is a societal good? I am not seeing it.
