You are so ready to accept the status quo if it fits your "conservative" do nothingness....left in the hands of folks sharing your mindset we'd be recording these things on papyrus and moving it by pony express...which ain't too far off from where we are by the way.

You idiot. I make my living installing EMR & Billing systems in physicians offices. How is it to my advantage to move more slowly than the technology will allow?

I do know what can and cannot be done effectively at this point. We are miles away from getting past the problems of having sensitive medical data in some centralized database where untold numbers of people will have access to it while maintaining control and you have many, many incompetent people with the responsibility of updating said data. It is a complicated problem and the systems that are in place today are not there yet.

They will be. But forcing this on doctors who are 50 years and older is going to cause early retirements and a net decline in the quality of health care as a result.

I would also point out that the anticipated "savings" from having this centralized database will be minimal.

THE REAL SAVINGS THESE BUMS HOPE TO ACHIEVE IS BY TAKING CONTROL OF TREATMENTS. SO, GOD FORBID ONE OF YOUR PARENTS IS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER, THE HEALTH CARE CZAR, NOT THEIR PHYSICIAN, WILL DECIDE IF TREATMENT IS WARRANTED.

You don't want that. You may think you do. But you don't.
