Half the guys on this thread seem to want to spend their time embroiled in endlessly circular arguments. Lots of folks would have to pay 12k for a family if they did not have employer coverage. I pay $8700/year for just my wife and myself, no prescription coverage and a fairly high deductible, and haven't even used the insurance. My brother in law is a mechanic and was quoted a rate of $800/month for a family of 3 even with his employer chipping in. Lot's of folks losing jobs I have talked with can stay covered via COBRA, and guess what, $1200/month is a widely quoted figure for them. Perhaps if you live in Ottumwa, Iowa, you can get cheaper coverage, but in many urban/suburban areas, not so easy... So some guys on this thread are simply 'full of it' if you know what I mean...

Regards,
John
