Lots of reasons why Jimmy Carter failed as a president. Most of it, I believe, was because his administration actively drained the spirit of the American people. He did come across as sort of a nag.

Ronald Reagan, by comparison, was an inspirational figure whose spoken ideals were backed by real action. He is perhaps the founding father of modern-day conservatism.

Obama can be an inspirational figure if he spends his political capital wisely. So far I give him a B-minus.
