I watched how MSNBC metamorphased into the smartest news program on TV over the past 2 years. It started right before the 06 election. And may have been a reaction to both bush and FOX.
Some overriding power/s in the background first hired Dan Abrams as director. He immediately got rid of Rita Cosby and a little later Tucker Carlson. And whomever the powers to be are, started looking around for the smartest newscaster's in the Country; and they cut Kieth Olberman loose to rail on bush a month before the 06 election.
I believe CNN (broken government), MSNBC, and John Stewart and Bill Maher were probably responsible for the squeeker senate races of Webb, Tester, Warner and Caskill, by educating the public as to just how mean, stupid and dishonest the cheney/bush/neo cons are.
Then MSNBC just kept adding the best and the brightest: wonderful geeks like David Shuster, creative geniuses like Rachel maddow, Olberman, Mathews, Andrea, etc.
They left one token conservative Joe Scarborough who never does quite get liberal thinkng, but is mild mannered and teamed him up with a bunch of liberals except for Pat Buchana who has become tempered in old age and seems to enjoy at least explaining how politics works.
This is all good as more and more moderates will tune into MSNBC and can then be educated to liberal philosophy and that it is not extreme at all, but just plain old smart!! |
