the problem extends deeper with these ETF's however - they are distorting the WTI price. There's also now no real way of telling whether inventory at cushing is caused by these things just dumping oil onto the market (where else would they be dumping it? Do they have to take physical delivery?), and whether crude demand or lack of is being influenced by them.

EDIT - more investigation reveals they roll contracts before having to take physical delivery so that eliminates inventory being effected. But are they skewing demand figures along with the WTI price.
