They make a big display of yelling at the CEOs and then the very next day they quietly remove any cap on their compensation. These people are not on our side. This is why so many Americans are so damn frustrated. Everyone in power appears to be bought and paid for. Politicians get bought because they can deliver. They deliver because they have the power to do so - and they have that power because we the people allowed them to grab more and more of it over time. People tend to have the government they deserve. Don't remember who said this, but there seems to be a great deal of truth in it, especially in a democracy. The best and only cure for corporatist corruption is limited government. Regrettably, the trend for a long time now is in the opposite direction.
