As I think you know, that one hit home! (am assuming you remember CW getting into trouble for his webpage.)

What a horrifying story about judicial breach of trust and greed. I do wonder how it wound up in court. If the ass't principal accused her and pursued it, shame on him; this should never have reached that level.

I was trying to find more details of her case, and came across this tidbit:
Among the offenders were teenagers who were locked up for months for stealing loose change from cars, writing a prank note and possessing drug paraphernalia. Many had never been in trouble before. Some were imprisoned even after probation officers recommended against it.

Having worked as a probation officer, this is infuriating. You spend hours talking to the child, parents, schools, and submit a report to the court with an official recommendation. In two years, I recommended placing two girls in state care and I never once had a judge go against my recommendations on the others, even repeat offenders.
