Well, when the U.S. was on the Gold Standard it still had a reasonable manufacturing base. When you don't manufacture anything and you're on the gold standard, then all your gold gets transferred to the people that DO manufacture. Can you name ANY Countries that would like to go on the Gold Standard right now?
