no, there was a public outcry that MSFT was engaging in anti-trust behavior. The other technology executives were screaming the loudest and everyone in their personal dealings with msft could see what was going on. MSFT would deliberately disable 3rd party tools in their operating system and force you to use the less reliable/poor quality msft version. REAL networks was the most obvious example of this, I thought.

Even though msft was behaving badly, the justice dept then was wise not to literally shut down the best US corporation over these issues. Too many jobs had been created and msft was a success story not a failure after all. So msft was fined, but not destroyed.

Compare this to the US stock options criminal trials. There is much less agreement with people that really understand what is going on about whether or not choosing the low of a quarter for employee stock option plans was criminal behavior on the part of CEOs or not. Nonetheless, the DOJ targeted hundreds of corporations CRIMINALLY for this! What a bunch of freaks. A couple of premier executives like that guy from Maxim actually developed health problems around this that contributed to their death. Koslowski, Nacchio, that guy Jamie Olis from Enron, all kinds of people were tried criminally and CONVICTED so that the DOJ could grandstand on fox news.

Now that they have destroyed all kinds of white collar people, the DOJ is now going after sports, leaking all kinds of info engaging in BS nefarious behavior because they are a bunch of trash.
