I am afraid the misunderstanding is on your end.

Certainly the economy wasn't out of the woods by the time we entered the war. But it was pretty clear we were well on our way.

If you can't see how pumping dollars into the system won't heat it up, well any economics classes you took were wasted. The reason why this should be a last resort should be obvious, you are priming for inflation. But it is a classic tool for managing recessions for a reason. It works.
