Jefferson most certainly did believe in a personal God. And a
God who intervened in history to punish unrighteous nations. Thats clear from his personal writings on slavery:

"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever." Thomas Jefferson

The church attendance you cite was not to worship but for his intellectual pursuits and discussions with people of religion.

I think when someone goes to church and takes part in hymn singing and group prayer readings as he did as an Episcopalian church member they're engaging in worship.

I don't find anywhere that he belonged to a church.

He was an Episopalian. His beliefs were unitarian and if there had been a Unitarian church near him, he probably would have joined it.

And the Unitarian belief you ascribe to him are his lofty thoughts about a god (creator), not as an offshoot of Christianity...

Whatever. He believed in a God that created us, judged us and punishes us. Don't claim him as one of your modern secularists.
