Many of the Dems don't/won't understand what this means for awhile, but one I know is starting to .... Also, thanks to the stimulus bill, the private sector will gradually shrivel and die. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the cost of servicing the bill's nearly trillion-dollar debt will shrink the economy within a decade.
The lady I speak of helped to get out the vote for Obama...won't talk to me of politics (says "she's afraid I will try to change her mind...") ....won't read much about what is going on in the outside world....BUT is doing fundraising for her local community from banks, businesses and the wealthier people..... She is seeing that the donations are very scant this last year, and are now as well.
Well, I say...."when people and businesses making over $250,000 are taxed to the max, where do you think the money will come from? When people are saving their pennies because of watching what is going on with our government, there won't be too many donations for awhile".....
Silence ....
Then I gave her an example I just heard of a few days ago....A service that rents out space for "incubator offices/business" has just had to go out of business....about 130 small businesses there, plus many more that had their phone and mail service, etc there. Turns out the Exec Suite business couldn't pay their rent, because many of the smaller business hadn't and couldn't pay theirs.
Enormous circle, and it won't be easy to get us back on track again.
Certainly not till we (world we) get the subprime generated disaster cleaned up.....The Bogus Stimulus just won't touch it....all it is really going to do is insert more Government into our lives, and hatch more entitlements, for an "entitlement-wantahave-now" citizenry.....
I said to her that "we have a choice right now....either we as a country decide that WE the PEOPLE have responsibility for ourselves, OR we decide we want the Government to do everything for us, and lose our Liberty and our Freedom. "
At least I said it nicely, so maybe she will start thinking about such things before it really is too late.
I doubt it though, she's one of those folks that has an extreme case of BDS and thinks Bush-Cheney should be in jail.
I really had to bite my tongue, because I really was starting to say..."What, and include Jay Rockefeller, Jane Harman, and all the other Dems on the Intel Committees in jail too?" They had the same reports the President had every day... |
