Oh, please, Steve, you are arguing against an argument you haven't read. Go read Krugman's book. One of very large points about securitization, one Krugman makes in his book, is that the real estate bubble was the next, great bubble, all amplified by global capital.

If you think you know what the single cause of the present economic crisis is then you are way ahead of the rest of us. Best I can do is to keep straight who argues what.
