Skeeter,

It's a sorry state of affairs.

I'm starting to appreciate your sentiment that the fundamental problem is people and their greed. But I haven't changed my politics too much.

If all the marginal things are done via the private sector, we have to deal with greed and occasional corruption and incompetence.

If all the marginal things are done via government we have to deal with greed, constant corruption, and constant incompetence.

I still prefer the private sector.

To me, the key to maximizing our results is still to reorganize the domestic banking and monetary system (make it fundamentally sound) and eventually extend that to the international monetary system. It will be virtually impossible to do that though because 95% of the private sector greed, incompetence, and corruption is located on Wall St. and they are firmly in control of the greedy, corrupt, and incompetent in government. It may actually take violence or a for a few states to move towards independence to change that (fat chance in our lifetime).
