I think you are jumping to a quick conclusion here J.

You forgot to mention the fact that NT is doing strictly CAP. If you consider that they just made that decision, add to it the fact that they already own the DMT patent and they are now going to pay for CAP patent, and the fact that they are one of the largest telco integrator/equipment supplier in the world you wouldn't make the statement you just made.

Yes, Amati, Orckit and Aware (three companies that have yet to prove themselves in this market) are banking strictly on DMT. But everyone else seems to believe CAP has won the first round of a multi-round match with or without ANSI standardization. Ignoring this may not be a wise idea.

>>>The news about DMT/CAP is terrific. It seems as if CAP will be a testing technology, but by the time real deployment in volume begins in '97-'98, it will be DMT. I guess in hindsight this is obvious--you have several companies (AMTX/ORCT/AWRE) exclusively developing DMT ADSL products and you have a few (WSTL/PAIR)developing both. And nobody is ONLY developing CAP products (except for paradyne). Why would several companies bet the farm on DMT if they thought there was a substantial risk that it would be supplanted by CAP--either technically or politically.
