And what do you think would have happened if the Gov had not played hardball and just let MER go splat?

For that matter, yank not only TARP (since some don't think they want it) but all the other bank backstops and let them go splat in succession.

Too big to fail = they need to be broken up so they are small enough to fail. Otherwise they are poorly run, for obvious reasons.
