Ill stick my neck out and venture a guess on Carolyn's behalf.

Im sure you are well aware of the Hong Kong Market panic as part of an overall "asian" economic situation reported quite frequently in the press the last few weeks.

There is no argument I am aware of that would dispute the negative influence this had yesderday (and arguably today) on US markets.

Within the context of Carolyn's message, I cannot fathom any other interpretation outside of its obvious economic reference.

The impression I get from your post is that you are insinuating that Carolyn's choice of words have a "racial" connotation. Perhaps you might want to clarify whether this is the case.
