I wonder if I should even post this... It's just subjective experience. I just got my friends old Leopard disk, he upgraded to a new machine. It's in perfect shape. It won't install on my antique Quicksilver even though my Quicksilver meets the specs. Drive seems fine reads DVDs, CDs and CD data disks. Firmware up to date on machine and drive. After a little research it seems that the first batch of these disks were defective and had problems installing on some of the earlier machines they were supposed to support. I think Apple, at the time replaced them no charge. I just spent some time, politely, on the phone with Apple and they basically flipped me the bird and told me its too bad if it's defective. Wow. I'm was going to spend $2000 - $3000+ this year on a new machine, and software and they quibble about a disk that would cost them all of $5 mostly in overhead and probably more like $2. Not good. They've done me right before in a big way, and technically I understand, but this feels wrong. I got my friend (among others) going with Apple products. He's a huge Apple consumer who is not happy right now. Same guy I mentioned having problems with his FCP in this post: Message 25426634 Not good. I'm going to go into an Apple store and try to charm a manager. We'll see.
