"Over the past 50 years of American history, every time progress has been made on national debt problems it was a result of some combination of those exact two factors: Higher Growth plus some Fiscal Restraint."

Then we can already write Obama's epitaph: Obama will have been a zero. His first act was to go the wrong direction on both of those. Why should we expect any different behavior in the future?

"Does not compute, Peter.

HIGHER ECONOMIC GROWTH *produces* higher government revenues, which reduces the need for borrowing and thus REDUCES (over time) the national debt."

Buddy, you will have to explain your logic. The first major act of the Obama Presidency was to destroy over a decatrillion dollars of American wealth and pass Porkulus. Explain how doing the opposite of what you posted is going to have the effect that you describe.

If his goal was to help the American economy he has just provided the most telling lesson for future Presidents to avoid emulating. Obama will probably be tarred in history in the same way Hoover is now.
