CHICAGO -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says it's time for Roland Burris to resign from the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Roland Burris faced a new call to resign Friday. He recently addressed allegations at a news conference that he lied under oath during the Illinois House impeachment hearings.

Gov. Quinn called Sen. Burris an honorable man but says there's a shadow over his service in the Senate. The Democratic governor says it's in the best interest of the people of Illinois for Sen. Burris to step down.
