Michael, perhaps the best defense for "doing something" is that it's better to turn some of the unknowns into knowns. To that I say, "Wait a minute. Have a little faith in the markets." Which of course will fall on deaf ears, but that's fine by me. In a democracy, I'm just one guy with one vote, even if I pay much more taxes than the average citizen. Maybe those who advocate "doing something" can lay off the ad hominem attacks a little. Nah, that'll never happen ... Tenchusatsu
