<<<BTW whether or not governor's accept or reject stimulus spending is irrelevant to the question of whether any of it was dedicated to Katrina recovery in the first place.>>>

Let me try to understand your logic! Former Senator Stevens placed in a bill to spend millions of dollars for a 'bridge to no where', therefore the fact he placed this in a federal spending bill makes you happy. Giving credit where credit is due...you sure can move from side to side on issues, quicker than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockers.

As for your ipso facto argument, and considering that EVERY state is getting stimulus funding (that is if Republican governors want such) are you telling me that if a given state uses any funding from this bill to repair a bridge destroyed by Katrina then that will not count in your mind as responding to Katrina recovery? You do realize that states have the end decision on where the money is to be spent. Why wouldn't a Republican governor not want money to replace a bridge destroyed by Katrina, since you are so concerned about stimulus money being spent on such? As I pointed out and as your AP article tells you, the Katrina impacted states have enormous federal funding and they don't seem to be in any hurry to spend it. LA,TX,MS,AL,FL.....hurricane prone states and their lacking to use monies provided to restore public services...can you think of anything that is in common about these states? You do realize that OUR college kids can't afford their education, but off the federal books we spend $15 billion a month in Iraq so they could write a new constitution for their citizens...so do you have a clue what Article 27 and 32 provides 'all' Iraqi citizens. Do you not have a problem with our 'off the books spending' for all Iraqis at the same time denying our citizens the same rights?

I'm sure you did...well I think maybe you did, but could you direct me to some of your posts where you assailed President Bush for borrowing billions of dollars to give his $600 stimulus package to citizens last year, and billions of dollars to bail out Wall Street and the banks that 'might' have had a tidbit to do with our world economic crisis?

And let me fully admit...debating you is like placing the two of us,like Kilkenny cats, tied together and hung over a clothes line.
