PFD: It's one I came across as a recommendation, that I then looked at, liked, and have bought. There are others out there (even within the Flaherty&Crumrine organization) that may be better. I'm open to suggestions.

I do dislike buying these things at premium. Before I bought today, I checked and the latest reported nav was $5.77 on 2/13. The etf really cratered today, and this morning was below the $5.77 figure. I'm sure the $5.77 has dropped in the past few days. I'll have to wait to see if my purchases today were above or below the current NAV.

I like the research that F&C do (some of which they publish on their website), and the straightforward way they communicate to shareholders. I read somewhere - for which I can't find the reference now - that these guys invest in their own funds (a positive for me, if true).
The management fee is high - I see 1.96% on my etfconnect link. I'm willing to pay more for these guys' presumed management skills with preferreds; close to 2% though is very very expensive. I can see it as drawback to making an investment in the etf, which is my intent (vs. trading it).
