2/20/09 update
Investors appeared to be channeling President Hoover this President's Day week and stocks continued to swoon. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -8.29% CYTD, or "Contest Year To Date" (vs. down -2.37% CYTD a week ago). While the Nasdaq Biotech Index also fell for the week, it did manage to close up 1.11% CYTD (vs. up 5.87% CYTD a week ago). But the Contest median did drop into negative territory, closing down -5.42% CYTD (vs. up 4.26% CYTD a week ago).
Although GHMM's portfolio had a rotten week, it was less rotten than its competitors for the lead and it remained in first place. CASA's portfolio slid into the No. 2 position with SCARAM close behind. The CYTD percentages were: GHMM up 10.39%, CASA up 6.14% and SCARAM up 5.41%.
At Friday's close, 8 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 6 of the 32 beat the NBI.
Have a terrific weekend folks!
Below is the Top Ten list on 2/20/09:
