You have no idea how many times the expansion of government was justified with that false dilemma. "You like roads, don't you? Law enforcement? Schools? Driver's licenses?" You are addressing this thing as if we were in normal times...c'mon...this is not budgeting as usual. Here these works are being promoted as a way to keep people working who might otherwise be on the dole anyway and to try to create a positive economic momentum ... this damn downturn is mostly psychological anyway...
