I like the sound of the 335 but at almost $3K or more I really couldn't see springing that much cash for the Gibson for what seems little more than lacquer. The reviews on the "true" Gibson's hasn't been all that good of late.

My El Cheapo strat-clone actually sounds pretty good has soldered grounds... one review I saw on a Gibson said they'd gone solderless. I'm not a big fan of crimping - good metal on metal would be superior IMO electrically. I'd be tempted to silver solder everything.

My only complaint with my beginner solid body is that the G tuning is not quite right. I've got brand new strings and the one octave fret is still a little sharp - I've tuned it at the bridge but I don't seem to get quite enough travel. Kind of puzzled because everything else is right on now, so I seem to know what I'm doing on everything but G. But from what I read G seems to be a problem on a lot of guitars - even ones that people pay a lot more for...

Thanks for wishes.
