Cal, IMO we're going to see a lot of outrage from our neighbors, and its going to last... they'll be writing about this 100 years from now.

There's no single cause, and there are different factions with different agendas all proposing and implementing different solutions. There's finger-pointing, polarization, and anger. Solutions seem to be coming from "Let's try it, and see if it works."

They're afraid to allow the system to crash and reset: there's no political or popular will for that.

It could still result in a global depression, and even if not, we don't know whether Canada will get sucked into the vortex of events to the south. In the last Great Depression, we did.

These events have been coming for years, and they've been predicted. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Even in a best-case scenario US economic strength, and therefore its power, has been seriously diminished. We will enter a period of global instability previously unknown in our lives.

That's the best case. A worst-case scenario? Bad. Ugly.

---

This has been a long slow train wreck, and it ain't over yet. I don't know how our friends to the south will solve their problems: whether they'll accept the realities, quit squabbling and start working together, or whether there'll be rioting in the streets.

Until they figure out that every voter, every politician, and every businessman bears some responsibility, there'll be no peace. It's painful to watch.
