Bank continue to be amongst the most heavily regulated American businesses.

The money center banks obviously were not. The fact that they are now, suddenly, worldwide mostly insolvent attests to that.

Now, specifically, WHAT do you want to change that would have affected the current crisis?

Derivatives need to be regulated. CDSs enabled this mess. Hedge funds need to be regulated, to open their books to regulators. Lending policy needs to be law, especially on mortgages. That's off the top of my head.

Just shouting, "We need more regulation"...

I wasn't shouting anything. I was answering the shout of "No Regulation... free market ... free market ... free market" that drowns out reason.

Read Greenspans recent comments, he is much better prepared to discuss the issue than I am.
