When patients take multiple pills that must be taken in unison, what happens if they run out of one pill before running out of the others? (This can easily happen if the drugs come from different pharmacies; e.g., one pill might be purchased via mail order and another at the corner drugstore.) Some patients may say:

“Gosh, I still have 2 of the 3 pills, so I’ll just take those ones until I get around to reordering the third one.”

Oops! That doesn’t work so well.

You neglected to comment on the copay issue. Having multiple copays for multiple pills is a material drawback for many patients, especially in the current economy.
