This weekend I went on one of life’s unexpected detours, to Livonia Michigan (Detroit). I was in California on a speaking engagement for 3 days but Friday morning I received word while in CA from my wife, that her brother died.

This was not unexpected nor was it expected. Her brother had cancer but it seemed to be in remission.

I scrambled to get a flight to Detroit (Livonia) where her family lives. Joanne, my wife drove there.

I am back in Chicago now, she will be returning in a couple days.
