Nothing to do with ideology, just pointing out the facts. Lets try a different tack. You seem to think it was so important in relation to the current financial situation, ok how do you think its relevant? How and why did allowing ordinary banks to merge with investment banks lead to disaster? Why didn't these more diversified banks do worse than banks that focused on investment or on ordinary retail banking? Why didn't Europe, which never had Glass-Steagal, and which for the most part never had a similar law, not have a catastrophe years ago?
