And that in itself might be too damaging for Obama to contemplate. Life's a biatch. His AG calling Americans cowards. The press secretary doing an all-out attack on a Chicago trader for voicing dissent. Imagine if Bush got anywhere near any of this.

It's as if they are nouveau riche who just moved into a mansion and they don't know how to behave. The tone is wrong. This is not the Chicago campaign trail, boys. What's standard issue there doesn't work in the White House. People expect the dignity of office and for you to weigh your words. Most Presidents have enough experience in high office to have gotten the idea. Obama doesn't, except as an intellectual concept. Worse for him, the adoring media is no longer so uncritical. Still kind (like you say, I shudder to imagine the coverage if Bush had done these things) but no longer worshipful.
