(Actually... what little medical evidence there is --- mostly from in-vitro studies or epistemological surveys --- points in EXACTLY the opposite direction. Some of the hundreds of compounds contained in the herb seem to have distinct anti-carcinogenic properties, and the population surveys do not point to any statistical increases in the population --- once confounding factors such as tobacco use and other such are removed.)
