The idea of Spanish speakers studying Spanish is about as "redundant" as English speakers taking AP English.

My impression is that it's not an issue of Spanish speakers studying Spanish but fluent Spanish speakers taking AP Spanish. I think it's great if they take a grammar course or a literature course or build vocabulary to beef up their Spanish skills. But what about that is AP? What about that in English would be AP?
