I know - I was responding based on something someone else on the thread said ... that if we just installed solar pv on our rooftops, we'd have more electrical power than we use now. If thats true and it really makes sense to put solar pv on every rooftop, why build solar farms? Save the transmission costs and let everyone have their own solar rooftop power.

I don't think it's true today, but it may be someday soon. The good news is that peak power consumption coincides with peak solar power production. So the incremental production is efficient to provide our short term growth needs.
